Heyy, you might have answered something similar but is it recommended that i be interested in sports in order to be a physical therapist :S like are most people? I’m not a sporty person at all but I want to be a PT just because it sounds like an exciting, rewarding job and you get to help people recover and be able to live normally again. I was moreso interested in working in a hospital kind of setting you know? And Haha thanks so much in advance :)

While many physical therapists love sports, and are first introduced to the field as injured athletes, it is definitely not necessary to love sports to be a PT. Physical therapy is a field made up of a diverse group of people with a wide range of interests, and there is no one hobby that a […]

My PTA Story

A thorough look into one SPTA’s story. Although I’ve learned about PTA’s, I so far haven’t had the chance to work with one. This is a good look at what they’re schooling is like: misha-fashionista: I’ve gotten tons of emails asking questions about my PTA program specifically, and also general questions about being a student.

Hello! I’ve recently come across your blog and I amazed at your work. I am interested in becoming a PT as well, but I am currently discouraged at the pricing of schools and my grades for certain prerequisites. I’ve read (so far in your blog) that personality and experience are important during interviews. In your experience, do you think grades are what catch interviewers eyes based on applications? Any information would help for an aspiring PT. Thanks, and good luck!

Thanks for the kind words! Each school has different standards and ways of handling grades. While some schools throw out applications below a certain GPA, others are more inclined to look at the applicant as a whole. Is it possible for you to retake some of those classes? First Week In

Last week was a busy first week back in school following our first full-time, 8-week-long clinical and winter break. It’s exciting to hear about all my classmates’ experiences. Since everyone was in different settings, each of us has a unique new set of tools to bring back to the classroom with us. The professors respect

Hey! I know it’s too early to tell, but what do you anticipate this semester? How do you feel about it?

I’m excited for the semester! It’s going to be busy — we’re taking 6 classes that go from 8am-5pm every day — and time management will be key. But I’ve heard that everything tends to come together after you’ve been out on a clinical. I’m also excited to take so many of the classes. Peds

Fun fact for the first day of the semester. It’s a bad idea to do something that involves a new motor skill on a first date. You won’t impress.
