Begin rant.

One of my best days so far as a PT-in-training has been when one of my patients walked for the first time in months as well. Like you, I also cried. She was a very special woman and I’m honored to have played a role in helping her recover. Our job can be amazingly rewarding! […]

Hey Jasmine! At your time at school, I’m sure you heard a lot about your classmates’ treks to get into PT school. I’m taking a year off before applying to school, and I need to retake four classes that I received C’s in to increase my chances of getting in. Do you know anyone in your class or any other aspiring PT student who went through the same thing? I’m a little uneasy that having to retake those courses are going to jeopardize my chances of getting accepted. Thanks!

I have a heard a lot about my classmates’ paths to PT school. Probably about half took at least a year off before applying, so that part should be fine. I’m really not sure if anyone spent that year retaking four classes. I assume that wasn’t the case, but then again, if that was true

Body Psychology

versaceisthenewgucci: What kind of job is similar to physical therapy, but deals with the psychological factors from their injury along with the physical aspects? Physical therapists often do deal with the psychological factors from injuries. I have a friend studying body psychology, which I think is only offered at a handful of universities in the

Hi Jasmine! I’m a junior in high school and over the summer I volunteered for the outpatient clinic at the VA Hospital. With over 110 hours, I became close with many of the PTs and PTAs. As only a high school student, what else can I do to prepare me for college? Should I start memorizing the muscles and bones of the body now? Or wait until college? What more can I do?

It won’t hurt to look at muscles and bones, but you’ll memorize them when you have to for class, so don’t drive yourself crazy with it now. I would keep trying to get as much PT experience as possible now. Since you’ve done outpatient, try shadowing in a hospital, school, nursing home, or other settings

Ty for the follow. Awesome blog! Any recommendations on blogs similar to yours? Also, is it too personal a question to ask where you currently attend?

Thanks! I go to Columbia University, but my blog is not affiliated with the school. I’ve seen other similar blogs in the past, but I don’t know of any at the moment that are still writing. Let me know if you find any good ones yourself.

PT is a Top 10 Job

This list highlights roles for which a college degree is required and where the jobs posted by companies each month outnumbers the workers employers are able to hire. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a job rankings list, but now that the end of the year is approaching, more should be coming along. Forbes

Evolution of this Blog

I’ve been thinking for the past few months about how this blog should evolve now that I am almost done with Physical Therapy school. Once I am working with patients, I don’t want to breach their confidentiality (and the law) by writing about them, and I don’t have nearly enough experience to write about my

Hello. I have been reading your posts for about a year now and I have learned a lot from you. I am an undergrad with 3 semesters left until graduation. I have good grades and will more than likely get into a physical therapy program but I feel like those grades don’t really reflect my knowledge. I guess my question is in what ways can I prepare myself for physical therapy school? Will studying anatomy and physiology a bit each day prepare me? Just how much physics material will I need to know?

As long as you fulfill the pre-requisites that the school wants you to take, you should be prepared for PT school. If you take the physics classes as your pre-req’s it will be enough. Studying anatomy is great because it’s one of the most important aspects of PT, but that is probably also a pre-req,
