If you’re like me and haven’t decided to become a PT until finishing college, you may be looking for an easy way to knock out your prerequisites and wondering if you can take your PT school pre-reqs online. You may also be looking for a virtual option if you’re retaking pre-reqs to boost your grades and GPA while applying through PTCAS.
First and foremost, you’ll need to check with the PT schools you’re applying to and see if they have a policy about this since many programs require that your labs be in person at the very least.
Other programs won’t question it and the virtual program where you enroll for pre-reqs can mail you everything you need to get lab credit. One popular online program seems to be prereqcourses.com although there are many others.
If you do need to take your classes in person, consider enrolling in a community college to save on costs, although again, double check that the programs you’re applying to will allow this (most will). You’ll also want to figure out how many courses each PT program will allow you to be currently enrolled in or have planned at the time you’re applying to PT school. Understandably, many PT programs want to see at least a majority of your pre-req grades before making an admissions decision.
Good luck with your pre-reqs!
