What to Do If You Have Conflicting Interviews

It may sound like a “champagne problem,” but each fall, many pre-PTs wind up with two PT school interviews scheduled for the same day. What should you do if this happens to you?

First, decide which school you’re more interested in. Keep this interview. Then, reach out to the second school and politely ask them to reschedule. It is ok to say that you already have another PT school interview, and maybe you can say that you committed to it before you heard from this school.

While this may make them slightly less interested in you, it shouldn’t affect their decision too much. They’ll appreciate that you’re sticking to a prior commitment, and if they like you, they’ll want to offer you and hope you attend regardless of whether you may have offers from other schools.

There are numerous students who have been in this exact situation, moved one interview, and still got into both PT programs.

Make sure all of your communication is polite and emphasizes your interest in the school. Then, hopefully in a few weeks, you’ll face another dilemma: what to do with multiple PT school acceptances.
