Last week was a busy first week back in school following our first full-time, 8-week-long clinical and winter break. It’s exciting to hear about all my classmates’ experiences. Since everyone was in different settings, each of us has a unique new set of tools to bring back to the classroom with us. The professors respect these experiences, and it seems like our status has been elevated a bit due to getting our first taste of being real PT’s. School even seems a little more fun now that I have a better taste for how I can utilize all we’re learning. And the professors are beginning to teach classes in their specialties now, so even they seem a little more enthusiastic.
I also had the opportunity to participate in student interviews last week, which always brings back memories of my own interview two years ago. Getting to meet the students was one of the factors that helped me choose the school, so it’s great to be able to pass that feeling forward. It’s also rewarding to hopefully ease of the interviewees nervousness.
I spent this past weekend seeing various friends from both my undergrad days and my PT program since we don’t have too much work yet. I figure I should try to have as much fun as I can now before we get too swamped. Although I know this semester will be tough, it’s nice to see it starting off so well.
