I’m excited for the semester! It’s going to be busy — we’re taking 6 classes that go from 8am-5pm every day — and time management will be key. But I’ve heard that everything tends to come together after you’ve been out on a clinical. I’m also excited to take so many of the classes. Peds is very interesting to me so far; as a pysch major, I’ve always enjoyed learning about development. I also thing spinal cord injuries in neuro III will be fascinating to learn. I’ve always enjoyed our professional practice classes since we get to discuss and learn so much about the PT field. Maybe the class I’m most excited for, however, is Ortho III since it covers the spine. I saw in the clinic how much my background in the upper and lower extremities helped prepare me, so I’m eager to get the same education about the back. I think it will be great preparation for working in an outpatient ortho clinic one day.
Here’s a great link about how PT can help with low back pain, and also some review of the spine (including the thoracic region) and SIJ.
