Learning from Those Who’ve Been There

I’m putting a lot of thought into writing a reflection of my first semester. But as I continue to work on that, I have other things I want to share. Here are some thoughts I have about learning from the students ahead of us in the program:

One of the best resources in PT school so far has been the second- and third-year students. I’ve been lucky to get to know a few who have TA’d for various classes. It’s inspiring to see all that they know, and realize that you don’t have to be the professor to master many skills which seem so complicated as a first-year.  I’m excited to realize just how much it’s possible to learn in one or two years from now. They’re also helpful as guides with I’ve-been-in-your-shoes knowledge. I’ve heard so much advice about classes and teachers to come, how to manage the stress of school, and how to choose internships. Oftentimes there’s nothing better than listening to someone who has already gone through what you’re going through. Plus, the most common refrain? It gets better!
